Sino-Korean word from 月曜日, from 月曜 (“moon”) + 日 (“day”), from Latin dies lunae (“moon's day”), through Indian astrology in the fifth century as Sanskrit somāha (soma, “moon”) into Buddhist astrology in the eighth century as 月曜日.
