Sino-Korean word from 孝行, from 孝 (“filial piety”) + 行 (“to do”).

- Phonetic hangul: [효(ː)행/효(ː)헹]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
