Palatalised variant of -ùkas, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Balto-Slavic *-ukos; compare Latvian -uks, Proto-Slavic *-ъkъ. Compare Proto-Germanic *-ukaz > English -ock (hillock, bullock).
