wasn't this term used during spanish colonial times? I was putting der for borrowings that were borrowed during the classical tagalog period, which spanned from the spanish colonial period in the 16th century to 1897 before the philippine revolution when the kkk promoted their modern spelling reforms to modern tagalog, otherwise known as the "Filipino" language.
