off day (plural off days)

  1. A day in which an employee is not scheduled to work.
    Until they gain a little seniority at this hospital, newly hired nurses need not expect to have two consecutive off days.
  2. A day in which a person is not performing up to their usual level of ability.
    I understand any pitcher can have an off day but walking four batters in one inning is ridiculous!
