Perhaps a combination of the same root as ἰνόω (inóō, “make strong; flow, pour”) and Proto-Indo-European *h₂ep- (“water”).

1. a fountain and river in the island of Delos, where Leto brought forth Apollo and Artemis (It is said to have risen and fallen at the same time with the Nile, and hence was supposed to be connected with it by a subterranean channel.)
