Borrowed from Manchu ᠠᡵᡴᡳ (arki), from Proto-Tungusic *arakïï. Ultimately from Arabic عَرَق (ʕaraq). Compare also Nanai арақи̇ (araqï), Mongolian архи (arxi) and Bashkir араҡы (araqı).
