From Proto-Albanian *ksōn(w)ja. Akin to Ancient Greek ξένος (xénos, “foreign”), which according to Beekes is Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF.,[1] although the existence of an Avestan cognate (Avestan 𐬑𐬱𐬥𐬀𐬎 (xšnau)) questions this.
