Etymology 2

The formation is like κάμαξ (kámax) and χάραξ (khárax). According to Beekes, it's either from the name of the tree or from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid.
