From Proto-Balto-Slavic *éśwāˀ, an ā-stem derivation of Proto-Indo-European *h₁éḱwos (horse). Cognate with Old Prussian aswinan (mare's milk), Sanskrit अश्व (áśva), Latin equus, Lua error in Module:parameters at line 370: Parameter "sc" should be a valid script code; the value "polytonic" is not valid.
