First attested in 1781. From French pédagogique, from Latin paedagōgicus, pēdagōgicus, from Ancient Greek παιδαγωγικός (paidagōgikós), from παιδαγωγός (paidagōgós, teacher, tutor), from παῖς (paîs, child) + ἄγω (ágō, I lead).
