Inherited from , from Sanskrit युक्त (yukta, “joined, yoked”) or युक्तक (yuktaka, “pair”). Cognate with Nepali जुत्ता (juttā) and Punjabi ਜੁੱਤਾ (juttā)/جُتّا (juttā). Doublet of युक्त (yukt).
