Etymology

From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese algũu, from Vulgar Latin *alicūnus, from Latin aliquis + ūnus. Cognate with Portuguese algum, Spanish alguno, French aucun.

algún m (feminine algunha, masculine plural algúns, feminine plural algunhas)

    Tes algún libro interesante? -Si, algún teño.
    Do you have any interesting books? - Yes, I have some.

Usage notes

All forms of algún contract when used following the contractions de (of, from) or en (in). So de algún contracts to dalgún, and en algunhas contracts to nalgunhas.
