A3 +‎ papir, first part is the first letter of the Norwegian alphabet with a number. Last part from Old Norse pappir, from Middle Low German pappir, from Latin papyrus (papyrus, paper), from Ancient Greek πάπυρος (pápuros, papyrus), perhaps from Egyptian.
