From Old Galician-Portuguese Adam, from Latin Adam, Adamus, from Ancient Greek Ἀδάμ (Adám), Ἄδαμος (Ádamos), from Biblical Hebrew אָדָם (adam, earth, man, soil, light brown), from אדמה (adamah, red earth, ground).
