Declension
[edit]Usage notes
[edit]- This term is sometimes used for working-class emigrants from elsewhere in Europe, such as Holland, France, etc.
- Almancı tend to be despised and envied at the same time, and the term's contextual uses reflect this.
- They can be despised by poor people for "showing off their money", by upper-class people for "poor manners", by secularists for voting AKP, by nationalists for poorly transmitting the Turkish language to their children, yet their material security is increasingly envied in the face of an economic crisis in Turkey. A sample of these views is on the linked Ekşi Sözlük page.
