Etymology[edit]
- (Eemsdelta) First attested as arnuurd in the 10th or 11th century. Compound of either Old Frisian ern (“eagle”) or Aro (“a personal name”) and uurd (“terp, artificial mound for habitation”). Compare Krewerd.
