  • (Noord-Brabant) Attested as het Boven Eind in 1838-1857. Compound of boven (upper, upstream) and eind (edge, end). So named to distinguish the settlement from Benedeneind.
  • (Zuid-Holland) Compound of boven (upper, upstream) and eind (edge, end). Originally an independent hamlet.
