  • In pre-1918 orthography, the letter я̈ () occurred in rare instances where a stressed letter я (ja) was pronounced in the same way as the modern letter ё (jo). As with ё, Wiktionary follows the dictionary style by including the diaeresis, but forms with я are also allowed as alternative spellings.
