@Aryamanarora, @DerekWinters I think Kamarupi Prakrit (5th to 13th century) should be added as an ancestor of Assamese, Kamta, Rajbanshi and Surjapuri. Kamarupi Prakrit samples are found in Kamarupa inscriptions (written in Sanskrit) in the form of Prakrit terms, in Charyapada as some of the poets were from Kamarupa etc. There are some reconstructions also, for example in Toulmin (2006)'s reconstruction of proto-Kamata, he also reconstructed some terms in its ancestor proto-Kanarupa. As for the name, the period of Kamarupa kingdom is 5th-13th century which mostly lies in the Apabhramsa period of 6th-12th century. Some called it Kamarupi Apabhramsa. In Kamarupa kingdom, the scripts used are: Gupta (5th-7th) "Post-Gupta" (late 7th-8th) Siddham (9th-early 12th) Early Assamese (late 12th-13th) — This unsigned comment was added by Msasag (talkcontribs).
