Category:English language[edit]

This isn't so much a request for cleanup as a request for order. Do we want to categorize in the narrowest possible categories? In other words, is it standard procedure to place the word horse in "Category:English language" AND "Category:English nouns," or just "Category English nouns." It seems more logical to only categorize in the narrowest possible categories, because "Category:English language" would be too massive for people to look through. I have instructed people in that article to please not categorize directly into "English language" but to instead categorize into the 20-odd subcategories. Again, I am only following what seems to be the most logical path, not any kind of official protocol. The categories help section is pretty vague, and everyone has different ideas about the use of categorization. Could we please reach a concenus over the issue? Put it to a vote or something? It's a very large hole in wiktionary protocol. --HelloMrMe 19:02, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I've been mulling over adding things that are in Category:English nouns (for example) to the subcategories in there for some time. I think I might start doing that if no one objects. --Wytukaze 18:33, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
The "narrowest possible" method was simply not viable. The recent activites regarding these categories make this request OBE. --Connel MacKenzie 23:58, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Why are there three categories for profanity? Shouldn't they be consolidated? -- 04:43, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
