Calque of Russian Де́д Моро́з (Déd Moróz).

Usage notes

This figure was introduced during the Communist era as an atheist replacement of Mikuláš, but it ended up to become an addition to the existing figures of St. Nicholas (December 6) and Baby Jesus (December 23).
