From Middle High German [Term?], from Old High German aruz, from Proto-Germanic *aruts. Akin to Old Saxon arut.
From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin Arretium (“Arezzo, a major Etruscan metal exporting city”).[1]
Has also been compared to Old Armenian երկաթ (erkatʻ, “iron”)[2]
