Etymology[edit]
From O'odham hia (“sand”) + -c'eḑ (“locative suffix”) + o'odham (“people”), thus "sand people".

Hia C-ed O'odham pl (plural only)
- A group of Native Americans who reside primarily in the Sonoran Desert of southeastern Arizona and northwestern Mexico; closely related to the Tohono O'odham.
