Etymology

Attested as Curren wech and Curren hoff in 1503. Compound of Curre (a personal name), weg (way, road) and wijk (neighbourhood, quarter). The neighbourhood is named after a road running through it. Compare Cornjum, Korhorn and Kornhorn.
