Usage notes
[edit]- Like other female names in -chen, this is mostly construed as feminine (die Lieschen) if the person is widely known under this name, but as neuter (das Lieschen) if it is merely an occasional pet name. This, obviously, with the exclusion of those areas of western Germany where all female names may be treated as neuter.
