     In 1948 a report was published to show the usefulness of special organizations for women. It said that in the winter of 1947 several defunct organizations for women had been abolished in Lingqiu county, Shanxi, and at the beginning of mobilizing for land reform no distinction had been made between men and women, who all joined the New Peasants’ Association and the Poor Peasants' League.

     Aerial photo taken on Feb. 25, 2021 shows villagers rehearsing dragon dance in Andi Village, Lingqiu County, north China's Shanxi Province. Performing dragon and lion dance during the first month of the lunar year is a century-long tradition in Andi Village. Last year, this folk activity was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Datong City organized a "Village Gala" to promote local folk activities on the internet. Andi Village's tradition performance was selected in the event.
