Unknown. It has been suggested that it is from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Arabic نَزِير (nazīr, rare, trivial), but if it is Arabic, perhaps more likely would be نَذِير (naḏīr, auspicious, boding well (?)) Represents the word 'rare' in Hebrew.
