Proto-Celtic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Indo-European *sodéyeti, regular o-grade causative from *sed- (“to sit”), whence also *sedeti (“to sit”). A lengthened-grade causative from the same root also coexisted in Celtic, as *sādīti.[1]
