From Proto-Finno-Ugric *kulɜ-. Cognates include Northern Khanty [script needed] (χŏᴧa-) and Northern Mansi [Term?] and Proto-Samic [Term?] (whence Northern Sami gollat).

*kuludak (stem *kulu-)
