Possibly from Proto-Indo-European *mléw-e-, from Proto-Indo-European *mlew-. Related to Ancient Greek ἀμβλύς (amblús, blunt; dim, faint), Avestan 𐬨𐬭𐬎𐬙𐬀 (mruta, crushed (?), weak).[1]
