[edit]From Pre-Germanic *kʷólpo-, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷelp- (“to curve”). Related to Ancient Greek κόλπος (kólpos, “bosom, lap”),[1] Latin culpa (“mistake, fault”),[2] and Persian کلبه (kolbe, “cottage”).
