Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Balto-Slavic *wérˀtei, perhaps ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₂wer-.

Slavic may have inherited two separate forms from the same root: thematic present with mobile accent and athematic root-aorist with fixed.
