"Fact" + "Word"

[edit]

Japanese sources traditionally treat (koto, fact, abstract thing) as cognate with (koto, word). How does this compare with Korean (geot)? ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 01:19, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pitch accent

[edit]

@Chuterix, differences in pitch between koto [2] "thing, speech" and kataru [0] "to tell" would be expected simply from the shift in mora structure and part of speech, no? Consider グーグル [1] vs. ググる [2], or older 屑 [1] vs. 崩す [2], 粒 [1] vs. 潰す [0], etc. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:48, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
