- @Per utramque cavernam: I saw the sources. But: where did THEY get it from? Is it possible they are wrong? Was it a name of one particular Laestrygonian? A place? They don't say. I checked everywhere: Homer Odyssey Rhapsody κ Τηλέπυλον Λαιστρυγονίην, ἴφθιμοι Λαιστρυγόνες,θυγατέρ' ἰφθίμῃ Λαιστρυγόνος Ἀντιφάταο
I checked Appolodorus 7.13: Λαιστρυγόνες
The only things at internet: this book and this Romanian link with: (λαιστρύγων, din λαός, popor şi τρυγή, recoltă, cules de vii, v. şi vb. τρυγάω, a recolta, a culege viile)
Probably, as you have suggested adj: ο λαιστρύγων λαός = οι Λαιστρυγόνες? But who made this word? An ancient or a modern lexicographer? sarri.greek (talk) 12:30, 9 May 2018 (UTC)- If I may, I would say Λαιστρύγων is clearly the same word as Λαιστρυγών (and the plural Λαιστρύγονες the same as Λαιστρυγόνες). I actually hadn't even noticed that there were two entries. They should definitely refer to each other (at present Λαιστρύγων has a "See also: Λαιστρυγών" but not vice versa). Did both forms actually coexist in Homeric and/or Classical Greek? I'd very much like to know the answer to that, if you can figure it out. Pasquale (talk) 15:24, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

- Maybe a redirect should be put in this article from Λαιστρύγων to Λαιστρυγών. This is clearly a mistake, which has been corrected in Bailly 2020: Λαιστρυγόνες, ων (οἱ) [ῡ] les Lestrygons, pple myth. de la Sicile ou de l'Italie du sud, THC. 6, 2 ; STR. 20 ; au sg.
