A typographical error?[edit]

I have seen a lot of 'ευθώς' in the internet, copied multiple times in pdf exercises for students (subject: constitutional history of Greece), quoted [in monotonic script] Ο Όθων, δεχθείς άκων την εγκαθίδρυσιν συνταγματικού πολιτεύματος, δεν είχε την διάθεσιν της πιστής εφαρμογής αυτού.
This is a quotation from Alexandros Svolos 1892-1956) (Greek: Αλέξανδρος Σβώλος, polytonic: Ἀλέξανδρος Σβῶλος) Τα Ελληνικά Συντάγματα 1822-1952. [The Greek Constinutions 1822-1952.] Athens:1972. (also pub.1998 [1]), page 79 snippet which is in polytonic, with correct word εὐθύς and not *εὐθῶς:

Ho Óthōn, dekhtheìs ákōn tḕn enkathídrusin suntagmatikoû politeúmatos, dèn eîkhe tḕn diáthesin tês pistês epharmogês autoû. Euthùs ex’ arkhês, parabiázōn tò pneûma toû Suntágmatos, anemíkhthē eis érga dioikētiká, epembaínōn eis tàs bouleutikàs eklogàs kaì prospathôn ekdḗlōs nà sunkentrṓsēi eis kheîrás tou perissotéran exousían.
Otto (of Greece) after accepting unwillingly the establishment of a constitutional polity, had no inclination for its faithful implementation. Straight from the beginning, violating the spirit of the Constitution, he got involved in administrative subjects, interfering with parliamentary elections and trying in an obvious way to accumulate more power in his hand. -hope my translation is not too bad-

The mistyped form seems to have been copied numerous times in articles, either as mistyping of ευθέως (efthéos, directly, straightforwardly), or of ευθύς εξαρχής (efthýs exarchís, right from the beginning), like the mistyped pdf exercise above. Otherwise, I cannot find any *ευθώς explanation. ‑‑Sarri.greek  I 03:41, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
