I'd say so; is there any way of knowing when the "census" sense fell into disuse? A similar case is Earthling; we say it comes from Old English ierþling (plowman), but the modern scifi sense is probably really a new coinage that only coincidentally corresponds to a word with a different meaning that had been obsolete for centuries. —Aɴɢʀ (talk) 11:15, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
