Talk:πνίγω

The aorist indicative forms in the active and middle voice (which are also in the AORIST header) all have spurious gammas at the end of the stem, which needs to be morphed to ξ throughout the paradigm.

Currently, the header has: Aorist: *ἔπνῑγᾰ, *ἐπνῑγᾰ́μην, ἐπνῑ́χθην

It should be: Aorist: *ἔπνῑξᾰ, *ἐπνῑξᾰ́μην, ἐπνῑ́χθην

And the active aorist indicative paradigm has:

And the middle aorist indicative paradigm has:

And the middle aorist indicative paradigm has:

ἀνοίγω [[1]] is a good analogy of this morphology.

Also, in the Modern Greek table, it could include acceptable alternate versions of the the Passive Simple Past form πνίγηκα (πνίχτηκα) and Passive Dependent forms πνιγώ (πνιχτώ), in the respective paradigms.

This is attested in Babiniotis' Lexicon of Modern Greek has with a parenthetical - (προφορικού λόγου -χτήκα).

Lexigram lists πνίχτηκα under αόριστος and πνίγηκα under αόριστος β with alternate subjunctive forms: πνιχτώ and πνιγώ (in that order): https://www.lexigram.gr/lex/newg/πνίγω

Kudos to anyone who might be able to update the conjugation table, since I lack the coding skill to do this myself. — This unsigned comment was added by Abbadonnergal (talkcontribs) at 18:45, 4 January 2021‎ (UTC).[reply]

@Abbadonnergal, Hello, sorry for late reply, but you did not ping any editor. I saw this by chance.
Also, could you please sign your talks with your automatic signature: ~~~~
I will check the modern section which is my domain. And let's add an attention grc here
Thank you! PS Also thanks for ρώσικος, I edited it. ‑‑Sarri.greek  | 07:30, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This still seems to have the spurious gamma over ksi. (no idea how to ping or sign, sorry?)

It looks like this is due to {{grc-conj|aor-1|ἐπνῑγ}}. Although it certainly makes sense to have a sigmatic stem in the sigmatic aorist, I'm not advanced enough in Ancient Greek to be sure, but- based on the Greek Word Study Tool at Perseus, I made the change. Perhaps @Mahagaja will confirm that I did it right. Chuck Entz (talk) 05:10, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Chuck Entz, Sarri.greek, Abbadonnergal:, Chuck's edit was correct. It looks like @Samubert96 made a simple typo when adding the Ancient Greek form, but it's all good now. —Mahāgaja · talk 08:41, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
