бабушка

Belarusian meaning grandmother. User:Atitarev thinks this does not exist in Belarusian (diff).

I admit that, when creating the Belarusian entry, I have probably misread slounik.org[1], which has boldface "бабушка" only for "Расейска-беларускі (Булыка)" and "Расейска-беларускі (Некрашэвіч-Байкоў)", that is, from dictionaries from Russian to Belarusian.

Nonetheless, I'd propose to run the normal RFV.

As an aside, changing the slounik.org link to use x=33 & y=8 & un=1[2], which was achieved by checking "толькі ў назьве", limits the search to headwords, which seems to be desirable; perhaps I should change {{R:be:slounik.org}} accordingly. Later: No, I should not change {{R:be:slounik.org}} that way since we need to find Belarusian words in the non-headword parts of Russian-Belarusian dictionaries. And yet: we do not need to find Belarusian words in the non-headword parts of Russian-Belarusian dictionaries; it suffices to find the words in Belarusian-Russian dictionaries. --Dan Polansky (talk) 08:53, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

@Dan Polansky: I have found a few citeable Belarusian GBH for "бабушкі", "бабушцы" (trying to remove Russian from the search, still doing some refined searches), so I am retracting the RFV. In slounik.org, I'd rather not check "толькі ў назьве". It does eliminate some usage examples and sometimes I only find inflections with no translations into Russian when the checkbox is ticked. --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 09:16, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

@Atitarev: Thank you about the entry; can you please post links to these attesting quotations here, just the minimum sufficient to find them? About {{R:be:slounik.org}}, please post to the discussion at it talk page. Maybe I was too hasty but it does seem to me that the setup without the restriction is misleading and tricky. --Dan Polansky (talk) 09:32, 3 July 2020 (UTC)

Slounik.org is not a bad dictionary, gives a lot of examples without restrictions but it's important to differentiate between the Russian and Belarusian texts. As I said at Template talk:R:be:slounik.org, if I find cases where it's detrimental, not letting you find a word, I'll let you know but in my memory, it sometimes gives inflections but no translations if a checkbox is ticked. --Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 10:01, 3 July 2020 (UTC)
