@Cinemantique:, @Metaknowledge:, @JohnC5:, do you think this word is related to Ancient Greek κέρκος (kérkos) and κερκίς (kerkís)? Beekes mentions the them together in the sense of "stave, rod" and this entry lists the latter as a possible cognate of кирка. Djkcel (talk) 04:40, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
