@Guldrelokk: Could the Russian be a borrowing from OCS? I'm puzzled by the treatment of initial o in front of liquids (compare *orbъ). What's the pattern? Per utramque cavernam 08:52, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Per utramque cavernam: Yes, it would generally be true, but here is a special case: initial *őRT- under acute accent gave lengthened ra- in all of Slavic speech – thus рать, ра́ло (rálo), лань (lanʹ), ла́комый (lákomyj) Polish radło, Polish łania, Polish łakomy.
