@Atitarev, Cinemantique, Wikitiki89, Wanjuscha, Per utramque cavernam, Guldrelokk Can someone help gloss "под спудом", "из-под спуда"? They are related to подспудный "latent, hidden, implicit". Benwing2 (talk) 00:51, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Benwing2: It's a literary expression and it means "hidden", "in secret". I found an interesting comparison with French: "Il ne faut pas cacher la lumière sous le boisseau." (One shouldn't hide the light under the vessel) - "Зажёгши свечу́, не ста́вят её под сосу́дом (спу́дом), но на подсве́чнике, и све́тит всем в до́ме." (Having lit a candle, one shouldn't put it under a vessel but on a candlestick and (it) lights for everyone in the house). --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:15, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Atitarev Thanks. The expression "One shouldn't hide the light under the vessel/bushel" comes from Matthew 5:15: "Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house." Presumably then из-под спуда means "out from hiding"? Benwing2 (talk) 16:06, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Atitarev, Cinemantique, Guldrelokk, Wikitiki89, Stephen G. Brown Can the remaining senses be verified? They come from ruwikt but I wonder if they're real. Benwing2 (talk) 16:14, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Benwing2: They seem good, good job. "р̔und" is obviously not Armenian. @Vahagn Petrosyan: Could you please fix the Armenian term? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 21:40, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done. By the way, @Benwing2, if you mention the name Trubachev in the etymology, then you have also to mention the source in the ===References=== section. Otherwise it is unclear what "Trubachev" is. --Vahag (talk) 16:11, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Vahagn Petrosyan OK, will do. For me, "Trubachev" is always Vasmer's dictionary, which Trubachev seems to have edited. Benwing2 (talk) 19:44, 26 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
