Etymology[edit]

@Per utramque cavernam tani may be relevant to the etymology. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 12:54, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Lingo Bingo Dingo: Ah yes, it looks like it, thanks. Though now I wonder what's the etymology of the Polish term; I don't see anything that could be related, except perhaps Upper Sorbian/Lower Sorbian tuni (see pl:tuni). @Mahagaja? --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 13:06, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Muka's dictionary (my only source for Lower Sorbian etymologies) doesn't say much, just that tuny is related to Old Church Slavonic тоунь (tunĭ), Upper Sorbian tuni, Polish tani, and Kashubian tôńi, for whatever that's worth. —Mahāgaja (formerly Angr) · talk 13:34, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that's a start. --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 13:57, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
