km: Hi. This pronunciation is assumed from the spelling and the source (French). I assume the first consonant should be /ʒ/ or /z/. Only able to get /z/. If I leave it as is, I get "hs", which is obviously wrong.

The symbol () is supposed to make the first vowel "ɔɔ" instead of the default /ɑɑ/, I had to move the symbol () onto (sɑɑ) in the respelling, instead of the position after the first letter (hɑɑ). So I received the desired /z/ and the vowel /ɔː/

Now the final has changed from /-ɑːʔ/ to /-ɔːk/, not sure if this is a normal transformation. @Wyang: Why did it change from /-ʔ/ to /-k/? I assume it should produce /zɔːʔ.ɗaː.niː/ or /ʒɔːʔ.ɗaː.niː/.

Did I make correct assumptions? Is it possible to produce the transliteration "žɔɔkdaanii" and the IPA /ʒɔːʔ.ɗaː.niː/? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 11:25, 31 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Wyang: Hi Frank. Somehow I stuffed up a group ping. Could you please have a look? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:47, 1 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev Sure. I can't yet find words with /ʒ/ in Headley- the two examples on Khmer alphabet with this initial, ហ្សាស (zaah) /ʒas/ "jazz" and ហ្ស៊ីប (ziip) /ʒiːp/ "jeep", are /zaah/ and /ziip/ on Sealang. Is the /ʒ/ ~ /z/ distinction worth having? If so, we have to think of a way to transcribe both (in their first and second series) separately, which is a difficult task, since both ហ្ស and ស៊ are in use. Some other words potentially in the same situation: link. You are correct that /ɔːk/ should be /ɔːʔ/ Anatoli, it's now corrected. Wyang (talk) 07:31, 1 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: Thanks for fixing! No, I'm not too concerned about /ʒ/ ~ /z/ distinction right now as /ʒ/ seems very marginal and we can't find solid examples and as you pointed out, Sealang uses /z/. Yes, transcribing both differently is a good idea but I don't have good resources for Khmer to use /ʒ/. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:37, 1 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
