Chinese gall

[edit]

@Mlgc1998 Hi, do you have a source for the "Chinese gall" sense? AFAIK, the gallnut is called 五倍子 (wǔbèizǐ). RcAlex36 (talk) 05:26, 13 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@RcAlex36 It came up in the Android Pleco app. It said:
五子 wǔ zǐ
NOUN CHINESE PHARMACOLOGY Chinese gall;
gallnut

@Mlgc1998 Please do not add back something that has been removed by the RFV process. Pleco is not enough for attestation. Please see WT:ATTEST. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:08, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung how about this one. it doesn't look like it's about gallnuts this time but different ingredients for traditional Chinese medicine. there also seems to be some medicine brands appearing on google images for me when I search 五子 at least from my ip. @Mlgc1998: If you read the article, it seems to be referring to five different medicinal ingredients. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 07:23, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung yes that's what I said, different ingredients for traditional Chinese medicine Mlgc1998 (talk) 07:35, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Mlgc1998: just hypothetically, if you searched for "七子" would you find something about seven "different ingredients for traditional Chinese medicine"? In other words, is this just any five ingredients, or is it something set, like 五香粉? Chuck Entz (talk) 07:54, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Chuck Entz For "七子", it seems to be referring to many different 7 kinds of something, like in the chinese wikipedia disambiguation page and this baidu page. Chinese wiktionary seems to have made an entry for it but no definitions yet. Mlgc1998 (talk) 08:07, 3 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
