Min Nan pronunciation

[edit]

@TagaSanPedroAko Do you have a source for the Min Nan pronunciation? Also pinging @Mar vin kaiser. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:55, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@TagaSanPedroAko: Take note that Chinese names for places in the Philippines always fall under two categories, names based on Mandarin pronunciation and names based on Hokkien pronunciation. The names based on Mandarin pronunciation are almost never read in Hokkien (I can only think of one exception, which is 菲律賓菲律宾 (Fēilǜbīn)). Meanwhile, names based on Hokkien pronunciation can be pronounced both ways (in essence), Hokkien and Mandarin, example of this is 宿務宿务 (Sùwù). In this case, the entry you created, this is a name based on Mandarin, so the Hokkien pronunciation of this isn't used. I'm guessing you looked at the pronunciation of each character and just stringed them up? Also, have you added other Hokkien pronunciations aside from this? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 00:56, 14 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
