Hakka and Wu

[edit]

@Atitarev Just wondering where you got the Hakka and Wu pronunciations. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 03:43, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Justinrleung: They are from Wikipedia. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 03:55, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev: I don't think there's a Hakka Wikipedia entry for Qur'an. Which article did you get it from? As for Wu, pronunciations could theoretically be unsystematic for words that are transliterations. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 03:57, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: Hakka: I used https://hakka.fhl.net/dict/index_hakka.html to get individual characters and found a match in some articles on the resulting derivation.
It may be the case for Wu (unsystematic). Dungan гўлан (gwlan) have different tones from the expected characters, very different from Mandarin. I did occasionally try to reach Shanghainese speakers to get pronunciations, e.g. 河馬河马 (hémǎ) but they are not very prone to respond. If you don't trust these reconstructions, go ahead and remove them. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:01, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Atitarev: Okay, I'll remove the Wu pronunciation then. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:12, 4 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
