Pronunciation 2[edit]

@Wyang I'm wondering where you got pronunciation 2 (other than from Guangyun). The definition is off as well. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:29, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I can't remember now, maybe from Guangyun. Cantonese gung2 is from 粵語同音字典. How is the definition off? Wyang (talk) 08:44, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Wyang: 𡤼孒 doesn't have 孓 in it. If it's supposed to be 孑孓, how is it different from sense 3 in pronunciation 1? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 10:30, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the 居悚切 reading is attributed to 孓 in Hanyu Da Zidian. The pronunciation is different, and the meaning is uncertain. Kangxi: 又《廣韻》居竦切,音拱. I don't know what 𡤼孒井中小蟲 is supposed to mean, which is why I left it at 𡤼孒. Wyang (talk) 10:58, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Wyang: I'm pretty sure 孓 = 孒. I'm also pretty sure 井中小蟲 means "small insects in wells". The pronunciation is different, but it seems like it's the only reading in Guangyun that seems to relate to the larva sense of 孑孓. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 11:10, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Surely 井中小蟲 is "small insects in wells", but is it any small insect in wells (that wiggles), or a specific type of them? This is what I was unsure about. Wyang (talk) 11:14, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Wyang: True, but the definition "only used in 𡤼孒" makes no sense if the entry is . Either it's "only used in 孑孓", or we should move it to . — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 11:21, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I changed it to 孑孓, assuming the 𡤼孒 in 𡤼孒井中小蟲 is a variant of 孑孓. Wyang (talk) 11:23, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
