Pronunciation[edit]

@Wyang, Justinrleung, Mar vin kaiser, Tooironic Should we include niàopāo or not? I'm confused; On one hand, I feel strange to include it - as this word is not included in 教育部國語辭典 - as if a British pronunciation under an American spelling. On the other hand, 尿 has only one pronunciation in Taiwan, and chinese-linguipedia.org do labeled it niàopāo. So how should we deal with it? Dokurrat (talk) 06:20, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should be m=suīpao,niàopāo,1nb=standard in Mainland,2nb=standard in Taiwan,2nc=variant in Mainland. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:05, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Justinrleung: May I ask, where did you got "niàopāo" as Mainland variant? Dokurrat (talk) 08:27, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dokurrat: Chinese Linguipedia is supposed to be including both the Mainland and Taiwanese pronunciation, so when there is no difference in pronunciation, the given pronunciation should be applicable to both Mainland and Taiwan. But then again, it may be unreliable, since the actual Mainland pronunciation should be suīpao. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:42, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Justinrleung: Okay, This doesn't seem to be a convincing reason for me. Dokurrat (talk) 08:45, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dokurrat: It's not that convincing to me either, so let's go with m=suīpao,niàopāo,1nb=Mainland,2nb=Taiwan. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:50, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, what does Guifan Cidian say? — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:51, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Justinrleung: It says suīpao. Dokurrat (talk) 08:55, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dokurrat: Alright, thanks! — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 08:57, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Justinrleung: You're welcome. And what's also intersting is that 现代汉语词典 use 尿脬 as main entry and 尿泡 as variant; but it's just the other way round in 现代汉语规范词典 (尿泡 as main entry and 尿脬 as variant). Dokurrat (talk) 09:00, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Dokurrat: Standards... (sigh) — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 09:02, 26 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
