@Metaknowledge: You definitely have a point, but I figured that including the original text (including the Sin Wenz transcribed with Chinese characters) would be more truthful. I've also done similar things at 開#Chinese and 鬧病#Chinese, btw. —Suzukaze-c 03:35, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Suzukaze-c: "Truthful" is an odd word to use. You're not lying by excising stuff that doesn't matter. And sure, we stick in everything we can for languages with small corpora or heavily normalised orthographies, but Mandarin isn't one of those — if it doesn't support the word in question, then you might as well just find a quote from a normal source and leave this on the Citations page. —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 03:48, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
I saw these quotes as good quotes that happened to be presented in an unusual way. I definitely agree with putting less helpful quotes on the Citations page (if at all). This reminds me, sometimes I've been tempted to add punctuation to 文言文 quotes that don't use punctuation. —Suzukaze-c 03:58, 12 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
(we convert simplified text to traditional anyway... —Suzukaze-c 04:20, 12 January 2020 (UTC))Reply
